Before renovation senior living lobby in Richmond, Virginia with central brick fireplace and dated finishes—outdated design highlighting repositioning opportunity to improve resident experience, boost curb appeal, and increase ROI for operators.

BEFORE

Bon Air, Back to Life

The Challenge

Bon Air’s Assisted Living and Memory Care spaces felt dark, dated, and lifeless. Tours were forgettable, and the interiors didn’t reflect the vibrant experience the operator wanted to offer residents and families.

The Goal

Infuse energy, color, and a sense of fun into the community, creating spaces that feel joyful for residents, exciting for families on tour, and functional for staff.

A collage of interior design elements including a brick wall, colorful patterned walls and textiles, a robotic Virginia sign, a plaid fabric, a tile floor, two screened-in rooms with chairs and tables, and a TV unit with decor, all arranged together.

Our Approach

Bold Color Story
Cheerful, saturated hues replaced beige-on-beige, instantly giving the community personality and warmth.

Playful Brand Touches
Pineapple murals, colorful signage, and themed spaces create memorable “moments” for residents and families.

Resident Engagement
Activity and lounge areas were designed to encourage movement, social interaction, and visual interest.

Memory Care Sensitivity
Patterns and palettes were balanced for stimulation without confusion, ensuring comfort and ease.

The Results

The renovation transformed Bon Air into a lively, tour-ready community that residents enjoy and families remember. The operator gained a marketable edge with a space that now truly reflects its culture.
